The Lindbergh Symposium:

This one-day conference held each November in Fort Myers explores the life and legacy of Charles A. and Anne Morrow Lindbergh. Such eminent speakers as Dr. Sylvia Earle, Reeve Lindbergh, and Russell Schweickart draw on themes from Lindbergh history and show how issues that interested the Lindberghs still have impact on our lives today. The Symposium, held at Florida Gulf Coast University has received international interest and praise from scholars around the world for its quality, authenticity and compelling content.

The Anne Morrow Lindbergh Shell Coast Poetry Festival:

Each year in February, Lee County, Florida students, k-12, public, private and home schooled, are invited to submit original poems on themes important to Anne Morrow Lindbergh. From these submissions, an anthology of poems is published with an introduction by noted author Reeve Lindbergh, daughter of Charles A. and Anne Morrow Lindbergh. Over 1200 submissions are received annually, and an audience of over 400, made up of school administrators, teachers, family members and honored guests, enthusiastically attend the annual poetry reading by the selected poets.

The Argonauta Scholars Program:

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of powered flight, the EarthShine Institute inaugurated a program to recognize young middle school and high school aged scientist whose work reflects an understanding of the Lindbergh’s vision of balance between the technological advancements they helped pioneer and the natural environment they cherished. So impressed was the Charles A. and Anne Morrow Lindbergh Foundation with the work of the first six scholars chosen, that they chose to recognize one, Peter Borden of Fort Myers, Florida, at their prestigious annual Lindbergh Award event with a special Lindbergh Family commendation.

On the Horizon …

  • An expansion of the Poetry Festival to interested national and international communities.
  • The creation of a Tellina Scholars program, for young middle school and high school poets to “balance” the Argonauta program …
  • Symposium programs to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the publication of Anne Morrow Lindbergh classic Gift from the Sea and to celebrate the 100th anniversary of her birth.
